If you register as a client and use Author Assists, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following conditions and terms of use for clients, which, together with our Privacy Policy, govern Author Assists and Cosmic Strands LLC relationship with you in relation to this website. The term “Author Assists” or “Cosmic Strands LLC” or “us” or “we” or “our” refers to the US company Cosmic Strands LLC as the owner of the website “authorassists.com” whose registered office is 913 N Market Street, Suite 200, Wilmington, Delaware 19801, USA. Cosmic Strands LLC is registered with the Delaware State government. The term “client” or “clients” or “you” refers to you as the client of our editorial services. The term “content,” ‘document,” “text,” or “job” refers to any written material you send to Author Assists for editing. The term “copy editing,” “proofreading,” or “editing” refers to the work done by editors. We may change these terms by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are apprised and satisfied with any changes. These terms are effective from 20 June 2018. The use of this website is subject to the following Terms of Use:
1. Services
Author Assists is a real-time service that lets you add professional, human copy editing and proofreading to everything you write. It is essential to us that you know what to expect, and copy editors know what to deliver. When sending content to us, you receive an instant price quote. The quote includes checking and correcting the grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, and textual structure. All quotes are non-binding.2. Payment
When you place an order on Author Assists, the payment is transferred to a dedicated holding account. Payment does not accrue interest while in holding. All payments are made in USD and are exclusive of customs duties, merchant services, and other taxes. You have four days from the next business day to evaluate, accept, or claim a re-edit.3. Credits
Credits can be used for one or multiple jobs and for all users of an account. Credits do not expire as long as you sign in to your account at least once a year. We will refund any unused credit in your account minus a 20% handling fee. We do not offer any refunds or credits if you have not used Author Assists editorial or proofreading services after purchasing the credits. Copy editing of your text includes checking the grammar (correction of all grammatical errors), spelling (correction of all spelling errors), punctuation (correction of all punctuation errors), consistency (imposing a consistent style), and textual structure (ensuring that the structure is well organized). Copy editing does not include development (any writing apart from ensuring consistent structure), rewriting, ghostwriting, or critique or evaluation of the text.5. Delivery and deadlines
All dates and times provided for the delivery of the content are approximate, and they are based on previous orders of the same size. We cannot be held liable for any loss or damage caused by a later delivery time than the approximate one.6. The clientʼs right to refuse the work
When copy editing has been completed, you have four days from the next business day to evaluate, accept, or claim a re-edit. If you fail to do so, you are deemed to have accepted the work. If you do not accept the work, you can claim a re-edit, stating your explicit reasons for doing so. When claiming a re-edit, you must have made no changes to the content and addressed all notes and comments from the copy editor. If you fail to provide a reason for your refusal of edited text, you are deemed to have accepted the work. If you claim a re-edit, the copy editor will do the re-edit at no extra cost to you. If you do not accept the re-edited content, and your claim is legitimate and supported by substantive proof, your payment will be reimbursed.7. Confidentiality
We acknowledge that copy editors may be privy to confidential information in the form of sensitive or unpublished material. To ensure client confidentiality, all our copy editors shall agree to work under a non-disclosure agreement by using the service. Though we strive to provide an excellent service with an outstanding product, we will in no way be liable for any loss or damage, including, without limitation, indirect or consequential loss or damage, or any loss or damage whatsoever arising from loss of data or profits arising out of, or in connection with, the use of this website. Every effort is made to keep the website up and running smoothly. However, we take no responsibility for, and will not be liable for, the website being temporarily unavailable due to technical issues beyond our control. It is the client’s responsibility to safeguard any original material sent to us. Any content created by us as part of the work done by editors will become the copyright of the client.9. Re-edits and money-back guarantee
Given the human element inherent in all editing assignments, we offer a comprehensive guarantee of our work based on a combination of free re-edits and a refund in cash or credit based on a head editor review: • For each job you can claim up to three free re-edits by the same editor. All claims of re-edits must be made before the job auto-closes after 72 hours. • If, after claiming up to three free re-edits, you are still not satisfied, we will offer you a refund in cash or credit. A cash or credit refund is based on a review by a head editor. For example, if the head editor finds that the original editor found and corrected only 90% of the errors in a text, we will offer you a 10% refund in cash or credit. These Terms of Use constitute an agreement between you and “Author Assists” or “Cosmic Strands LLC.” You are agreeing to be bound by the Terms of Use, which, together with our Privacy Policy, govern by our relationship with you in relation to this website and its services.12. Governing law and venue
This agreement is governed by the laws of the United States of America. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with this agreement, including any disputes regarding its existence, validity, or termination, will be settled by the courts of United States of America in accordance with the court procedure adopted by courts of United States of America and in force at the time when such proceedings are commenced.13.
